Welcome to Baku, city of wind and carpets, Caspian capital of this classic ‘land of fire’. Join me on walking tours in which we’ll visit Baku’s most beautiful squares and old buildings… and discover the remarkable stories behind them. After all, this is a city where every mansion has a tale to tell, while many streets have formed the backdrop for literature and cinema. For example, Baku’s gorgeous Old City (Icheri Sheher) recently featured as itself in an international movie remake of the great Caucasian Romeo and Julliet-style story Ali and Nino.
Just beyond the sturdily fortified walls of the Old City, other favourite haunts include the pretty Philharmonic Garden and “Istiqalaliyyet St” Baku’s first grandly European-styled avenue dating from the first Oil Boom. Journey with me through time, glimpsing flashes of Baku from when it was kingdom to the turbulent years of the First and Second World Wars, all illustrated with a carefully selected mixture of photos and videos to complement the landmarks that we’ll see.
In this journey we can communicate easily in English, Spanish, Russian or Turkish languages, so you may not worry about being lost in translation. Moreover, I would be very pleased to share all my experience with you and demonstrate the true Azerbaijani hospitality.
In my free time I do enjoy writing articles for economic websites and also do run my own blog focused mainly on my trips. I believe that after our tour you will take with you the best cultural memories and warm feelings in your heart.
